Landscape Setting

The proposed crematorium building has been design to 'sit' low into its landscape setting. The photomontage below shows its impact from a viewpoint on the Corby Road looking in the direction of the Site; click on the blue text titled "Photomontage" to look at the visual imagery.

Landscapes associated with crematoria play an important role in creating the reflective and contemplation settings for crematoria visitors. Dignity attaches great importance to the design setting of their crematoria buildings. The extent of the memorial grounds will be significant. Areas of proposed structural tree planting will separate open spaces to create an immersive experience for visitors as well as achieving a strong contextual relationship between the site and the wider landscape.Tree and shrub planting will frame and define a variety of garden spaces, creating a structure in which memorialisation can be planned. Seasonal planting around themed spaces will enhance the visitor experience.

Some examples of the landscape typologies which will be replicated through the scheme design are shown here.
