The school are aware of the sensitivity of flood lighting given the site’s location close to the boundary of the built up school campus; the proximity of the Marlborough Tunnels, the bat habitats and protected landscapes; and to local residents. Also learning from the recent planning decision for an outdoor pitch with floodlighting which was refused, no floodlighting is proposed.

Given the location of residential dwellings to the north east of the school and the existing Sixth Form building, an acoustic assessment has been commissioned to consider the impact of the use of the outdoor pitches on the amenity of nearby residents. The conclusions of the report to date confirm that there will be no noise impacts arising from the proposed use of the outdoor spaces given the distance between the site and the nearest dwellings; the siting of the Sixth Form building and existing bund; and the existing background noise levels around the site.
