A sustainable business proposal

The owners are looking to develop a sustainable business in the wider sense of the word. The scheme requires a significant commitment both in terms of financial commitment and an investment in time and resource.

Throughout the Pre-Application process research and market evaluation has continued to enable development of a sustainable outline business plan of the future vision. This research made it clear that the new banqueting/function room and visitor facility should be at the heart of the updated hotel business. Creating a quality venue with the ability to cater for 500+ guests provides a service that currently does not exist in Somerset. By supporting this facility with accommodation and catering and leisure choices, the scheme can develop into a short stay destination that could create significant revenue opportunities for the wider local area.

The location of the Grange Hotel, close to the existing market towns of Burnham and Highbridge, as well as slightly further afield in Bridgwater and Weston Super Mare. A ‘Buying Local’ policy will be explored with the aim of sourcing reliable quality suppliers to meet demand across a range of services. It is also expected that many of the additional staff will also be drawn from the local areas. Opportunities for both full and part-time employment are anticipated within both the leisure and hospitality environments.
