General design concept
The design and vision for Thornbury crematorium would include:
- A welcoming tree lined entrance
- Parking availability for small and large cremations (space available for 200+ vehicles)
- Sheltered Welcome Walkway
- Ceremonial Hall with seating and capacity for 400 people
- Memorial gardens with external seating.
- Café and refreshment areas (intended for use by crematorium visitors not the general public)
- Columbarium
- Wild cemetery
- Washroom facilities with full disabled access
- Detailed signage throughout the site.
- Recycling and composting area for grass cuttings, shrubs, flowers etc.
- A speaker system inside the Chapel
- Induction loop for the hard of hearing
- Full disabled access
- Large print hymn books and wheelchairs form an integral part of the service offer.
