Arboricultural Survey

Existing trees on the car park site.
An Arboricultural Survey of the site has been undertaken. The plans below demonstrate the existing condition of the trees on site.

Retention of existing Rowan trees
The proposals will retain all bar one of the existing Rowan Trees and add to the trees to the rear of the car park site, along with the red brick wall. This will create a green “buffer” between the existing and proposed housing.

Following a site investigation survey, it appears that there is a strong likelihood of Japanese Knotweed in amongst the line of trees fronting onto Newfoundland Road. Japanese Knotweed, if not affectively removed, can seriously damage the foundation and structure of buildings in close proximity. This invasive plant will need to be removed and the removal process includes deep tranches which will require the removal of trees from the affected area.

Trees on Newfoundland Road
The proposals will remove the row of trees along Newfoundland Road to accommodate the terraced housing and off street parking. These trees have been identified as “moderate quality” and the PG Group will agree a strategy for off site planting to mitigate the loss with Bristol City Council.
