Introduction to the proposals
The PG Group's proposal is to demolish the current industrial building and, in its place, to design and build a scheme that delivers affordable housing in the form:
• 224 apartments
• A minmimum 20% affordable units
• A mix of 1 bed, 2 bed and 3 bed residential accommodation - NOT STUDENT ACCOMMODATION
• 8-10 parking spaces with electric charge points
• Provision of Electric car club spaces
• Residents cycle parking
• Provision of 5 electric cycles for residents use
The scheme is part the way through the design process and at a point where your input is encouraged. Your comments and feedback will help guide the development of a scheme through to a detailed planning application. This will be submitted to Bristol City Council later this year.
What will you be commenting on
• There are two options for the design and layout of the site Option 1 and Option 2
• Each option has two separate buildings, Building A and Building B.
• On both schemes Building A is designed as a Courtyard Building and open at one end.
• On both schemes Building B is a Block and addresses the view from Malago Road.
• Both designs meet the site constraints and make the most of the design opportunities presented.
• Fingers and Views - The upper levels of Building A permits views across the site, as does (at the lower levels) the gap
between Buildings A and B. We have called these fingers and views.
• Sunlight Entering the Courtyard - At the upper levels, the main building steps down to maximise opportunities for
sunlight/daylight entering the courtyard, the garden, and the apartment windows.
• Linked Buildings - Internally, the Courtyard Building (A) is divided into smaller clusters, each with it’s own entrance and
core. Entrances are located off either the arrival space or the courtyard garden. The two-cycle stores are located close to
the building entrances.
